Conditions We Treat

Embolization

This is an effective treatment option for tumors and vascular abnormalities, such as arteriovenous malformations (AVM). In AVM, embolization blocks the abnormal vessels so a rupture does not occur. Embolization also is frequently used in conjunction with surgical removal of AVMs. The procedure can decrease the size and blood flow within an AVM, making surgical removal safer.

For tumors, embolization may be used for meningiomas, paragangliomas or glomus tumors, juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas, head and neck cancers, and tumors that affect the vertebrae.
